When there’s an abundance of codified university entrepreneurship programs, incubators become credentialling organizations training individuals similar to corporate sales programs in the past. VC firms with standardized term sheets receive a bombardment of pitch decks. Inspiring founder origin stories are portrayed as saints and sold as biographies by the dozens. Events rehash played out scripts with no substance. Every person on the street is hoping to build their unicorn startup.
Think twice before jumping on the bandwagon. You’re playing a game that’s already mapped out, and thousands have done the same before you; expect marginal returns.
The hustlers today don’t deserve the returns, because they have become dispensable. You’re a cog in the machine.
If all you have is youthful energy, passion, and dedication as your unfair advantages, join a company where you can get paid to learn and rack up real unfair advantages in new markets, human capital, and technical knowledge.
